 Planetary campaign `Hour for our Planet` in Nis Fortress was celebrated with the gathering of many representatives of organizations of civil societies- EKOpolis net, Green net of the City of Nis, organizations of local governments of Mediana, Palilula and Pantelej municipalities. With symbolical turning off of decorative lights in the Fortress of Nis, Nis University building, City Administration business buildings of city municipalities, Regional economic chamber with organized programme – performance of young people and actors of National theatre in Nis, supported by ED Jugoistok, public communal enterprises of the City, media houses, campaign Hour for our Planet also this year in Nis had expected result.

GYMNASIUM STUDENTS INITIATED TWINNING

 The mayor of Doullens Municipality in France, http://www.mairie-doullens.fr/ Christian Vlaemick and the president of Palilula Municipality – City of Nis PhD Igor Novakovic, on the basis of common interests and intentions and establishment of the cooperation of two high schools signed the Agreement on cooperation of local governments. On this occasion in Palilula Municipality, the headmasters of two schools from Palilula – professor Olga Dragojlovic and Patrick Ferret - Lycee de L`Authie, Doullens, signed the other document on cooperation. Milan Djurdjevic, president of Palilula Municipal Assembly and Milos Stojkovic, member of Palilula Municipal Council were also present at the signing ceremony.

WITHOUT SCIENCE THERE IS
NO DEVELOPMENT OF SERBIA

 In the hall of Electronic faculty in Nis the festival `Nauk nije bauk` - `Science is not a bogeyman` was opened. The organizer is the founder of this unique manifestation, organized for the fourth time, this year with the motto World is in science with 500 participants from whole Serbia and 47 settings from various scientific spheres, is `Svetozar Markovic` gymnasium in Nis. The minister of education and science Zeljko Obradovic, said at opening ceremony that without science there is simply no development of Serbia and that the quality of educational and scientific system should be raised at higher level.Human potential with which Serbia disposes is the most valuable thing and our pupils have in the last four years won 400 medals on various international competitions said Obradovic.

THIRTEEN INTERNATIONAL FAIR
OF TOURISM IN NIS

 International fair of tourism will be organized in Nis March 31-April 1 2012. At the area of 1,500 m2 in renovated sport hall Cair, all those interested in this matter could find business or private interest when holidays and travels are in focus. Over 80 exhibitors will represent their offer: from travelling all over Serbia, to the arrangements for travelling to European countries or to destinations over the oceans. The visitors would be able to find the spot for their ideal holiday whether that is seaside, mountain, summer festival or village. International fair of tourism represents serious place outside Belgrade where the offer and demand are met. Palilula Municipality is also this year presented in the magazine of touristic offer for Serbia 2012.

JOIN "EARTH HOUR 2012"

 "Earth Hour" is a global action, which this year on Saturday, 31 March 2012 at 20:30 hours local time will bring together individuals, organizations, institutions and business sectors with a common goal - to send a strong message that it is possible to do something about climate changes and it is possible to change their daily habits for the benefit of ourselves and our planet who live on it, www.earthhour.org. Starting in 2009 when the action was first organized in Serbia, the number of cities and municipalities that support campaign has been growing. Global action to 2011 Serbia joined over 40 cities and municipalities, and globally over 5200 cities from 135 countries from all over the world, stand in the WWF.

INCREASE COMPETITIVENESS OF SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES IN THE REGION

 Regional Centre for Small and Medium Enterprises - Niš, with its partners in the project, the Regional Business Centre for small and medium enterprises in Pernik and Palilula Municipality, organized in Nis Roundtable discussion on "How to do business with the EU?". On this important issue for further development and cooperation of Serbian and Bulgarian entrepreneurs in the region, shared the opinion the professors from University of Sofia and University of Nis, involved in the project, and representatives of local authorities, Bulgaria-Pernik-Serbia City of Nis and Palilula Municipality.

MUNICIPAL SUPPORT TO
SPORT DEVELOPMENT

 Palilula Municipal project `MODERNSPORT` that will be realized in the partnership with the Municipality of Botevgrad (Bulgaria) within the Programme of cross-border cooperation Bulgaria – Serbia within IPP fund after the accepted changes in project activities will be continued with the realization. The main project was made, emphasized PhD Igor Novakovic, president of Palilula Municipality and now the construction of projected sport terrains can start at the surface of 4,400 m2 in separated building of Kralj Petar Prvi school in Pasi Poljana. In order to develop and promote sport, according president Novakovic, several sports (terrains/courts) facilities will be constructed here: volleyball, basketball and handball, tennis court, fitness trails, ski jump, athletics track.

 On the basis of the document `Cooperation of two city municipalities Palilula-Nis and Lazarevac – Belgrade`, that was signed in the end of January this year in Palilula Municipal building, as first activity of connecting local self governments `for realization and providing common interests` seminar was organized in Palilula Municipality. This meeting with the title Improving the work of `City municipal administrations` was designed to the delegation of Lazarevac Municipality and had for its goal the experience exchange in the administrations work, as well as with the introducing with the projects and work methods of Palilula Municipality-Nis stressed Bojan Ilic the Head of Municipal administration of Palilula Municipality.

SAFETY OF PEDESTRIANS – FOCUS ON PUPILS AND STUDENTS

 The action of installing new traffic signalization in Palilula municipality aiming at reducing traffic accidents at pedestrian crossings and in the nearness of schools. Last week, at three locations in municipality modern traffic equipment was installed. It is about new generation of changeable traffic lights designed according to European standards with LED diods and solar power which visuality in bright sun light is on 250 m. Palilula Municipality in its Strategy of development gives the specific priority to activities on improving life quality of the people living in all municipal parts. Taking into account the situation at the terrain, solving problems and meeting with the people these all became practice in the work of authorities of this organization of local self government of the City of Nis.

 Regional center for the development of small and medium enterprises and entrepreneurship Nis, started with the realization of the project `Increasing the competitiveness of the Nis region by encouraging the application of innovation in the SME sector` that will in coming two years will be realized in partnership with Regional commerce chamber Nis, University of Nis and in cooperation with Palilula Municipality. This project is financed by the delegation of European Union in Republic of Serbia with participation of 140,090 Euros and is being realized within the Regional socio-economical programme of development 2 (RSEDP2).

DOING BUSINESS WITH THE EU

 In`Tami Residence` Hotel, Palilula Municipality, was a presentation of the "Doing business with the EU." Implementers of this project are the CBC Regional Centre for Small and Medium Enterprises - Nis, as a project manager in cooperation with partners from Bulgaria, the Regional Business Centre for small and medium enterprises in Pernik. The project worth 104,234.95 Euros, financed by the European Union through the Programme Bulgaria-Serbia IPA Cross Border Programme and covers part of the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria (Varna region) and part of Serbia (Nis District).

TEN PALILULA FLATS BURNED OUT
IN BIG FIRE

 The top floor of a residential building at Starca Vujadina 22, settlement in Palilula, Nis, the fire was extinguished but it already burned a dozen of flats. According to information from the ambulance no one got hurt. PhD Igor Novakovic president of Palilula visited the people of this building and offered them temporary housing. Fire rescue units stayed on the location during the night for precautionary reasons.The fire broke out at about 19 00 hours in the southern part of the attic of three connected buildings, and soon spread to the entire attic. Residents were quickly evacuated.
Although the five fire engines arrived very quickly at the scene, fire extinguishing was difficult because they approaches to the building are very inaccessible.

 At Eighth St. Sava Book Fair, held from 28 February to 8 March in the gallery `Serbia` in Nis, organized by the graphic-publishing company "Medivest", low readership presented to twenty new titles of publishing houses, "Lagoon", "Official Gazette", "Vecernje Novosti", "Lento", "Edicija" "Logos Art," "Marso", "Book", "Logos", "Kairos", "Kuca dobre knjige" and "Parthenon" presented more than twenty new titles to the Nis readers.Traditionally, the most successful publishers of this year's Saint Sava Book Fair were awarded. The jury for the award for "Old Niš" of the eight St. Sava Book Fair in Nis 2012 consisted of Vidosav Petrović, publicist, Ljubisa Sokolovic, editor and journalist Dusan Milosavljevic

GENERAL STRIKE OF ADMINISTRATION EMPOYEES

 Union of the City of Nis Administration announced total cessation of work on Monday, March 12, 2012, from 7.30 to 18:00. According to a statement released to the media, "the employee will be at their desks, but will not perform the duties of his job or work with the parties." President Palilula, PhD Igor Novakovic supported the demands of the workers of the Management Board. He said that all municipal employees of Palilula can decide how to behave during the protest and therefore will not have any sanctions.The strike on Tuesday will be slightly altered, and will last "only" from 11:00 to 12:00. With this, as it has been announced, it will be continued daily to meet the needs of citizens.

PALILULA GREEN MARKET RECONSTRUCTION

 Work on the reconstruction of one of the oldest markets in town, the Green Market in Palilula, have started this weekend. As it was announced a month ago by the leaders of the City and Palilula Municipality, the investment at the site of Palilula Episkopska and Bozidarceva streets, will be realized within 50 days. Investors project the city of Nis, Novi Beograd Municipality and the PUC Market Niš, contractor "MD GIT" d.o.o. Niš. Contractors were visited by PhD Igor Novakovic, president of Palilula Municipality and Director of Public Utility Trznica Niš Nebojsa Petrovic and his associates.

BOTH YOUNG AND OLD NOW HAVE A PLACE OF GATHERING

 Within the activities support to the people living in Palilula parts-settlements , the president of Palilula Assembly Milan Djurdjevic and member of the Council of Palilula Municipality Milos Stojkovic visited Krusce village where recently the works on the reconstruction of the Cultrual building `Radoje Domanovic` has recently finished. After the half century of construction with the efforts of the Citizen council with the support of Palilula Municipality this social obejct will again become the place of gathering of Krusce villagers that, according the last registration has around 1000 people.

 On the occasion of celebration of International Women's Day March 8 Palilula Municipality held occasional meeting with the president PhD Igor Novakovic and head of administration Bojan Ilic, who hosted a reception for women employed by this local government municipal government organization. President of the Assembly Milan Djurdjevic and Ivan Jovanović Secretary of the Assembly gathered female councilors and presidents of activity forms of Palilula Assembly.
After bouquets of flowers, it was discussed about the current issues of women in society and opportunities to advance gender equality.

 Palilula Municipality, in cooperation with the institutions of public interest, involved in furnishing and equipping of the space- Department of Police Administration, Police Security Branch at the Railway Station in Nis. On this occasion, president PhD Igor Novakovic, President Milan Djurdjevic, Municipal president and a member of Municipal Council Milos Stojkovic visited the staff of the office of the Police branch office and handed over part of the office furniture and two printers. On the behalf of the Police Administration Niš, this meeting was also attended by Deputy of the Head Dr. Ljubisa Zdravkovic.This is the only police office in Palilula Municipality and the satisfaction is what we can help this team.

PROJECT EQUIPMENT FOR STUDENTS

 Support for young and talented students of Palilula is a part of the development strategy of this local self-government organization of the City of Nis, which has been successfully achieved and implemented for several years. According to PhD Igor Novakovic, Palilula president, apart from good cooperation with all educational institutions in the municipality, student associations and support development projects implemented, every year Municipal official calendar presents the best students and pupils. This year we decided that for the good students, who come from socially disadvantaged families, donate computer equipment that was previously used in our projects for not very long time, said President Novakovic.
